Gym Equipment Delivery: Measure Before You Order

A machine can fit your room and still fail at the lift or doorway. Record package dimensions, the delivery route and the services included before ordering.

Before ordering large gym equipment, check the complete delivery route and get a written quote for bringing the exact item into its intended room. The assembled footprint does not tell you whether the box will fit in the lift, turn through a corridor or reach the space you have measured.

Keep separate measurements for the package, the assembled machine and the area required to use it. The home gym planner helps you put those details beside the room and storage plan.

Which measurements do you need from the seller?

Request the exact model or reference, number of packages, dimensions and weight of each package, assembled dimensions and any permitted disassembly for transport. Confirm which parts arrive separately and who is allowed to assemble them.

Do not replace missing packaging figures with the machine's exercise surface. A treadmill's belt width is not its overall width, and a rack's frame dimensions do not necessarily include packed attachments.

How do you measure the route?

Follow the path from the unloading point to the final room. Measure the lift entrance and interior, the flat entrance and the narrowest part of each doorway. Note corners where a long package must turn, including the space on both sides of the turn.

Share clear photographs and measurements with the delivery team. Ask them to assess the route for the actual packages and handling equipment, rather than deciding that a few centimetres of spare width guarantee access.

Check any applicable delivery arrangements with building management, such as access booking or lift protection. Keep access to common areas and exits clear. If stairs or lifting work are proposed, let the delivery team determine a suitable plan rather than improvising on arrival.

What does “delivery included” actually cover?

Ask where delivery ends: the building entrance, your doorstep or the intended room. Confirm whether the quoted amount covers unpacking, assembly, placement and removal of packaging. Record what happens if access differs from the information supplied.

HomeFitness's published delivery policy is a useful example of why details matter: used-equipment delivery is chargeable and staircase charges can apply when lift access is not possible. These are that seller's terms, checked on 1 October 2026, not a standard price or rule across Singapore.

Request one written total for the planned service and a list of charges that could still arise. For a second-hand purchase, keep the equipment seller's promises separate from the mover's agreement; they may be different businesses with different responsibilities.

Should you disassemble the equipment to make it fit?

Only use a transport and reassembly method allowed for the exact equipment. Ask who will do it, whether the manufacturer or seller permits it, and how the machine will be checked afterwards.

Do not assume moving damage is covered by the original warranty. Sole Fitness Singapore's policy, for example, excludes damage during moving or transport and limits its warranty to the original purchaser. Read the terms for your own seller and machine before arranging a move.

If the proposed route requires removing something the instructions do not permit, find another solution before payment. A promise to “figure it out on the day” leaves the most important access question unanswered.

What should you record on delivery day?

Have the order, model reference and agreed service details ready. Check the package count and visible condition before unpacking, and record discrepancies with the delivery team. Photograph damage where appropriate and keep the written delivery record.

Once assembled, match the model and included parts to the order. Ask the installer to demonstrate the checks and controls covered by the agreed service, following the manual. Do not begin using equipment with suspected damage or missing required parts.

Ask how to report an issue discovered after delivery and what deadlines or packaging requirements apply. Keep packaging until you understand the seller's return process and have completed the relevant checks. This is a practical record, not a guarantee that a particular fault qualifies for a refund.

What if the equipment cannot reach the room?

Refer to the agreed access information and contact the seller or delivery coordinator. Record the point where access failed and the proposed next step, including any collection, redelivery or restocking charges.

Do not authorise damage to the building or unsafe handling to complete the delivery. If a different location is suggested, reassess the equipment's operating clearance, permitted installation and household access before accepting it.

Unresolved consumer issues may be raised with CASE. Its complaint process asks for relevant supporting records such as agreements, receipts and correspondence. Keep those records from the start; an outcome will depend on the circumstances.

Which checklist should you use for a treadmill?

Use the treadmill buying checklist for the purchase, support and condition comparison. The folding treadmill guide explains why stored size, operating space and belt size answer different questions.

For a rack, bench or mixed setup, start with the home gym planning guide. Send the delivery team the completed route measurements before confirming the order.
