The amount of spoilt equipment here is abysmal, probably due to poor oversight (seems like there’s a lack of staff) and inconsiderate users. If you want to find inconsiderate users, I think this is the best place, plenty here - modifying equipment and damaging equipment without consideration of other users. It’s sad how much the gym has degraded since its opening.
View on GoogleDid not update times when gym is closed for cleaning. Went down and was told that the gym is closed for cleaning. Have already bought the gym pass and no way to refund or use for another day. Would be good if they do update the times when they are closed on Google so people are aware.
View on GoogleReally impressed with the ActiveSG Bukit Canberra gym. The place is huge and fully equipped with everything you need. Staff are friendly and approachable. Even though it can get a bit crowded at times, it’s still manageable – people queue and share the equipment. I had some questions about the HUR machines and the staff were super patient, taking the time to explain how to use them properly. Overall, a great gym to train at.
View on Google1) Getting there. - The first time I went there, I got lost. If you travel via the Canberra Link bus stop, you won't miss the Hawker Centre but the signboards to the gym were not strategically located. I ended up at an open area near the escalator where people were doing some open air exercising as a group. Absolute shambles to the person in charge of signboards here. They need to take up a course on "Human Factors Design". Score : 1/10 2) After using Google maps and some guesswork, I finally managed to locate the Gym which is past the Hawker Centre with some delicious looking food and a conveniently located Polyclinic just in case somebody gets injured after exercising. It also located on the 2nd floor above the Swimming Pool . Entry to the gym is not so easy. You need to use the LifeSG App to get a QR Code and use the QR Code to scan at the entry gates. The hard part is trying to use PayNow or Credit Card. The security people didn't ask me if I had a towel on the first day but they did ask me on my 3rd visit. I just told them its inside my bag without showing them the actual towel. Score: 2/10 3) Now comes the shocker. Having been a member of California Fitness Gym many years ago, I expected to see a locker to keep my belongings. To my horror, there weren't any. The receptionist at the desk just told me to put my bag at an open air shelf. For wallets and phones, I can put inside a small lockable pigeon hole but you must bring your own lock. Absolute shambles. Now you have to exercise and at the same time worry that somebody will steal your bag. I didn't bring a lock and what about people who have laptops and iPads in their bags? Absolute shambles to the people who designed this gym. Gym not designed for humans. Score: 1/10 4) There were 8 treadmills. All used up by people who were running long distance. Why don't they have more? On the other end, there were 5 stationary bikes and nobody were using them. Who is in charge or ordering the exercise equipment here? Didnt they realise that exercise bikes (except recumbent bikes) have been unpopular in many gyms? Absolute shambles ! Score : 1/10 5) I like to cycle to the gym so I asked the security at the gates where I can park my bike. She said at the basement car park. When I went to check out the car park, to my horror, there were no bicycle parking lots to lock your bike. Its just some random open area. Absolute shambles ! They hate cyclists I recon. The nearest place where you can park your bike is near Canberra Link bus stop which is 500m away ! Pathetic! Score 1/10. 6) They have TVs at the gym but the TVs are located where you wont be able to watch them while exercising ! They are also placed behind the treadmills ! Instead of showing shows like the CNA news where you can watch without listening, the were showing some weird dark cartoons. Absolute shambles! The people who designed this gym don't seem to understand or know how to design gyms! Its a shambles. Score: 1/10 Overall I recommend you don't visit this place because your bike will get stolen, your bags will get stolen, you wont get to use the treadmills and you wont get to watch the TVs on the celings because of their poor location. Overall Score: 1/10. (Absolute shambles!)
View on GoogleExcellent and spacious gym, has got different areas for different workout and exercises. Toilet is new and clean, overall experience was great. Lady staff at the entry was very helpful with the migration of app and using the application to gain access to the gym. Also has vending machine with some beverage like milk and 100+ etc.
